Telenatura TBE are aware of the importance that mobile devices have reached today, where technology is evolving so fast. Phones, tablets, PDA's, .... a range of devices that are day by day becoming more important and making life a little easier. Thousands of applications allow us to carry out tasks that, few years ago, could only be carried out with a personal computer.
One of the Telenatura TBE R&D+i lines is dedicated to developing applications for mobile devices. Among our range of apps we have a variety of applications for management and maintenance of infrastructure related to water resources and energy: energy facilities, irrigation facilities, infrastructure, climate control, among others.

Application developed with LabVIEW for Pocket PC® which determines the extraterrestrial solar radiation, equivalent evaporation and parameters related to the solar position, always real time, from geolocation data on mobile devices. These parameters are useful in various applications related to solar radiation and meteorological sensors installed in the field: validation of data provided by weather stations, estimating crop water requirements, among others. There is currently no software in the market which confers this utility to a mobile device.

PvGPS is used for maintenance tasks in PV installations by determining the PV output power of the system, the daily energy production, the clear-sky global solar radiation and other parameters associated with solar position from GPS data. The calculation of these parameters allows the user to know if the PV plant is working properly. In the case the application is used in fixed PV installations where no tracking system is implemented, these data help the user check if the PV module support structures are correctly oriented.

This application allows the calculation of diameters in drip irrigation installations and it was developed with LabVIEW for Pocket PC®. It calculate potential commercial low density polyethylene diameters to be used on the sides of drip or trickle irrigation without the need of use a PC. The user can quickly evaluate the sensitivity to changes in the full range of commercial diameters for a lateral emitters line in drip irrigation. Required a certain input data: flow driven by the issuer, number of emitters, spacing between emitters and pressure tolerance in the lateral half.

Agroclimatic stations are normally used to record climatic variables, for example temperature, relative air humidity, solar radiation and wind speed. These data can be used to estimate the daily and hourly evapotranspiration (ETO) of the reference crop, which can provide important information for the optimization of water resources in irrigation programming. However, the data captured by agricultural meteorological stations are not filtered, which can lead to a poor estimation of the parameters and, consequently, to poor water management, endangering horticultural crops. Telenatura presents a new agroclimatic station capable of carrying out a real-time data filtering process to guarantee the validation of the acquired data. In addition, the station can be remotely controlled for automatic data collection and management tasks through a 3G mobile router. To carry out the remote control of the station we have a very intuitive and easy to use user interface, with it we can manage the station and the presentation of the data. It also has a web interface for remote access and an FTP server from which we can download the files. Today, we must be aware of the growing competition for water resources, hence the importance of the development of new technologies for the improvement of irrigation management. As we mentioned earlier, the data collected by the current agroclimatic stations are not filtered, which can cause errors when optimizing resources for irrigation optimization.

Therefore, to increase the operability of the stations, a series of algorithms for real-time filtering would be necessary, however, the current stations do not have this capability.

Vipmet is a new model of agroclimatic station capable of filtering real time data. It consists of two differenced parts:

• A hardware part composed of several weather sensors, a programmable automation controller for sensor data registering and 3G mobile router to endow the system.


• A software application responsible of acquisition and filtering data along with the estimation of various parameters.

To control VIPMET we have an attractive user interface for station management and data presentation, as well as a web application for remote control.

It is used to monitor weight changes in the irrigation of potted plants. By means of the electronic devices and associated software applications that include these lysimeters, it allows changing the irrigation conditions (quantity, frequency, schedule, etc.). It combines traditional irrigation methods (time and volume irrigation) with a new irrigation management system that accurately determines the water demand of the plants.

With this device, reliable data on the evaporation and instantaneous perspiration of the plant are obtained.

Telenatura, in collaboration with the Miguel Hernández University, develops a low-cost electronic nose prototype. This nose or E-nose is made up of 8 sensors sensitive to different gases, whose joint response offers a unique “aromatic fingerprint” of the analyzed element.

The sensor data are collected by a microcontroller which sends them via serial communication to a PC where a software developed with Matlab by the working group is in charge of receiving them for further analysis.

The nose has been used successfully to discriminate between a range of types of olive oil.

We are currently working on adapting the prototype to the analysis of biological samples that allow us to use the nose for the detection of diseases.

Spanish patent number P201030144. The system allows, compared to other irrigation controllers on the market, use the same hardware to perform many different configurations by simply changing the software, all at a low cost. It incorporates an interface software/hardware consisting of a data acquisition card DAQ and an adapter plate on which is placed a power converter associated with the various inputs and outputs of the system, with means for manual operation, parallel to automatic operation means consisting of a software program associated to a computer or PC connected to data card, so that it can be integrated into the team or be an external element and connected to it, either.

The SCADA system main objective is to apply regulated deficit irrigation (RDC) in almond-tree, taking into account soil and climate data plot. The use of this type of irrigation to optimize the use of water without impairing production. SCADA application is supplemented with the use of remote control software VNC (Virtual Network Computing). It´s Free Software based on a client-server structure. Lets take control of the server (computer that is running the SCADA system) remotely via client computer with any Internet connection, thus avoiding unnecessary travel and providing greater control over the system as well as saving time, money and water.

The teaching platform consists of two main parts:

• Drip irrigation simulator called SIRIGO v1.0.


• SCADA system (PROBACO v1.0) to control a facility through drip irrigation DAQ card model provided.

This SCADA system with the DAQ board can be used also as irrigation controller in real installations. Both source files as the simulator and the SCADA system is provided to students. These based on these templates, they may develop more complex applications by introducing new models and algorithms irrigation and input and output signals.

Telenatura implements decision-making systems (DSS) in horticultural and woody crops. Both the pumps and the control station are controlled, along with the irrigation head. It integrates frequency inverters and data acquisition and wireless communication systems. Additionally, the irrigation control valves are controlled.

Once the application is configured, the control interface is used to monitor the irrigation process and control the elements of the system, which are automatically managed by the application according to the calculated programming parameters: irrigation head and pump and control station; valves and pressure alarms; irrigation scheduling; deactivation of automatic control; status of the fertilizer dose; Variable frequency drive, or the acronym AFD; among others. The system has been used successfully in a wide range of crops.

Wireless sensor networks have become a very useful tool when it comes to optimizing and managing agricultural work.Telenatura works with commercial products applied to irrigation management, as well as developing its own sensors, communication nodes and water intake systems. decisions (DSS) adjusted to customer needs. The elements of the network implement the basic modules of processing, communication and power supply. They are compatible with a multitude of commercial sensors and allow operation in areas with poor communication and long distances to power supply points.

Telenatura works with sensors to collect data in the field (humidity, relative humidity, temperature, radiation, among others) at low cost for continuous measurement in real time. These are autonomous devices that are integrated into the wireless sensor network and transmit the information provided by the sensors. Telenatura also develops low-cost sensors with its own designs optimized for customer needs.

The nodes used by Telenatura stand out for their low consumption and low cost and allow the implementation of a network for capturing agroclimatic variables. The node allows the connection of several commercial sensors and includes a transmitter with various technology (GSM / GPRS, LORA, SIGFOX,…). The data is uploaded to its own server where the client can access remotely from multiple devices to obtain real-time data, historical data, trends and statistical values.
